These meticulously hand-woven napkin rings will add a touch of rustic elegance to your table, whether you are styling an aesthetic picnic, serving an intimate brunch, or hosting Thanksgiving dinner. They also make a wonderful wedding, housewarming, or hostess gift!

Make a subtle statement for hope, justice and beauty—these gorgeous napkin rings are a great conversation piece and the perfect opportunity to share the story of the women who wove them. With the income from one set of napkin rings, an artisan can buy a new tool for farming, shoes for her toddler, or even a chicken for producing eggs. Your purchase will positively impact the artisans and their families.

Each napkin ring is woven from natural sisal fibers that have been locally-grown and prepared by hand. The artisans use the weaving technique traditionally used for baskets to create these unique rings. The tea color is created when the naturally-white fibers are steeped in Rwandan tea.

Try mixing and matching with our tea & white napkin rings!

Features
  • Napkin rings are sold in sets of four
  • The napkin rings measure 1.2 inches each
  • Color: Tea, White
  • Napkins not included
Artisan Story

AVEKI Widows’ Cooperative
Let’s Be Together Widows’ Cooperative

Every Thursday morning, in Cyeza, Muhanga District, a group of 11 widows and married women gathers together to encourage one another in their weaving and in their lives. It is a challenge for these women to carve out a weekly time away from their responsibilities caring for their children, maintaining their homes, and farming their fields. But they have found that the personal and professional benefits are worth it! In this last year, despite facing many obstacles, the members of AVEKI Widow’s Association were able to pay for medical insurance for their families, purchase necessities like clothing, and resolve a number of other problems for their families.

Their expertise in weaving natural sisal fibers helps them to fight against poverty and to develop their families without having to always ask for financial help from others.

The women have achieved their goal of purchasing mobile phones for better communication. Now their dream is that each member will be able to purchase their own cow for milk, fertilizing manure, and income generation.

Weaving with traditional basket weaving techniques, the artisans craft modern household items like napkin rings.
